Description:
OVERVIEW
The Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts is looking for a visionary and ambitious leader for its Executive Director.
The Conservatory is a premier performing arts education institution in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It has been developing artistic excellence and a love of music and dance in students of all ages and abilities – from beginners to professional performers – for more than 130 years. We provide the highest-quality music and dance education to more than one thousand students per year, and music therapy services to clients of all needs from our historic building in the heart of the city.
REQUIREMENTS
- A university degree in an arts, business or management discipline
- At least five years of leadership experience in an arts, educational, or not-for-profit organization
- Experience in fundraising (capital campaign experience would be an asset)
- Experience in project management
- Collaborative leadership style and experience in building community within and outside of the organization
- Strong written and oral presentation skills
- Passion for the performing arts

Responsibilities:
The person we are looking for is a collaborative and innovative leader who will lead the Conservatory’s continued growth and strategic goals.
Our Executive Director will:
- expand the profile and impact of the Conservatory by cultivating and strengthening relationships with various communities;
- lead and support efforts to make the Conservatory a more diverse and inclusive organization;
- spearhead fundraising and other revenue-generating initiatives
- and, with the support of the Board of Governors and external service providers, oversee the maintenance and renovation of our storied, historic building
