QUALIFICATIONS

As the successful candidate, you will offer extensive experience as a senior manager of program delivery and complex policy development. Your background includes a solid record of stakeholder collaboration and engagement, strengths in policy and program development along with significant, innovative change management. Knowledge of the policy development cycle, including implementation and evaluation within the provincial government context along with an understanding of government accountability mechanisms and performance management systems will be key to your success.
A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Traffic Safety Services, the Executive Director, Monitoring and Compliance is responsible for stewarding safety and accountability in the transportation system and ensuring high standards for the delivery of oversight, monitoring and compliance functions for a broad array of transportation stakeholders, including several regulated industries.
The Executive Director will provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure oversight, monitoring and compliance functions related to commercial carriers, commercial vehicles, inspection facilities, provincial railways, dangerous goods, driver examiners, driver training schools, driver instructors, and Alberta drivers to enhance transportation safety in Alberta. This position is also accountable for transportation management and incident response, including Environmental and Dangerous Goods Emergencies (EDGE) and Alberta 511.
A key component of this role will be leading the development of policy work and legislation, ensuring collaboration with key stakeholders and providing financial, strategic, and human resource leadership to the branch.
