Description:
The roleThe North West Hospital and Health Service (NWHHS) is responsible for delivering public hospital and other health services to the communities of North West Queensland. We serve a population of around 32,000 people, distributed across 300,000 square kilometres, providing services across one regional hospital, two multipurpose health services, three remote hospitals, four primary health clinics and five community health centres.The NWHHS services the remote communities within North Western Queensland and the Gulf of Carpentaria. We have a diverse Health Service that offers a variety of lifestyles:
- Coastal beachside living at Karumba and Normanton
- Remote island living at Mornington Island
- Rural outback in Mount Isa
- Outback remote living at Doomadgee, Cloncurry, Julia Creek, Camooweal, Dajarra, Burketown and McKinlay.
The Executive Director, Nursing and Midwifery (EDNM) has a crucial role establishing a professional foundation for nursing and midwifery staff across NWHHS multi-sites. You will have a proven record of implementing operational policies and practices to effectively coordinate nursing and midwifery services with a focus on patient care and clinical priorities. Forming part of the Executive Leadership Team this role provides leadership, strategic focus, influential and expert advice on a wide range of professional and policy nursing and midwifery matters. This role is also responsible for providing assurance to the Health Service Chief Executive that the services and activities meet the relevant clinical and corporate governance requirements.

You will be skilled in planning, developing and coordinating nursing and midwifery services with a focus on patient care, clinical priorities and quality programs. This will be supported by your commitment to the continuous improvement of clinical standards and safety performance. You will also be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the best fit for the role. Within the context of the responsibilities, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate:

Mandatory: Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Midwife and a current annual practicing certificate. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of employment.
