Job Title: Executive Director, Statistical Programming - Oncology
Introduction to role:
Join our Oncology R&D team as the Executive Director of Statistical Programming, a role that is not only accountable for the end-to-end provision and execution of Statistical Programming services and tools for a global R&D unit or therapeutic area, but also for driving the strategic and tactical leadership. This role is pivotal in shaping the future direction of programming in our organisation and has significant input to R&D Biometrics strategy.
Accountabilities:
As the Executive Director, you will be responsible for developing strategies, providing expert advice, and influencing AstraZeneca’s response to complex challenges within AZ drug development related to statistical programming activities. You will lead the development of Programming strategy within the therapeutic area (TA)/R&D unit and contribute to R&D Biometrics strategic initiatives. You will also be responsible for people development strategy, ensuring compliance to standards and automation usage, and leading Portfolio level programming capacity management.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Degree in Mathematical (i.e., Applied Math, Engineering, etc), Statistical, Computer Science, Life Science, or equivalent.
- Thorough knowledge of the clinical development process from development, launch through life cycle management
- Ability to influence strategically and persuade tactfully to obtain desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive, organisational relationships
- Experience successfully leading global teams
- Enterprise Strategist
- Business Insight and experience of influencing and controlling budgets
- Expert stakeholder management skills on a functional level
- Strong leadership capabilities including ability to drive results and collaborate, communicate, network and influence effectively across a wide range of internal and external partners at varying levels of seniority
- Thorough knowledge of industry trends
- Active participation in external influencing forums e.g. PHUSE, Cross Industry Programming Heads meetings)
- Consistent record of innovation delivering improved business outcomes
- Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements supporting clinical trials and submissions
- Ability to drive and champion global change across multiple functions and actively advocate and implement more efficient and effective methods / processes
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Broad experience, ideally across multiple therapeutic areas and outside of the fields of Programming
- Experience in leading significant organizational and change processes
- Understanding of programming languages (eg, SAS, R, Java, Groovy, Spotfire, C/C++, VBA/VBS, .NET, Python, Pearl, Julia, D3)
- Significant validated experience designing and implementing business processes.
