THE OPPORTUNITY

BC Ferries is seeking a true subject matter expert with proven experience leading the development and implementation of Supply Chain strategy and operations, including procurement, supplier management, and warehouse activities. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Executive Director, Supply Chain leads the development and implementation of new systems, strategies, and processes for purchasing operations and supply management, while providing leadership and oversight to approximately 65 employees including management, administrators, and technical personnel engaged in the procurement of goods and services, as well as management of corporate assets.
The Supply Chain Management function focuses on supplier performance management including implementing procurement solutions that meet or exceed regulatory and customer requirements, supply chain cost reduction, as well as managing and controlling inventory and delivery systems in the support of both vessel and land based operating facilities.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you add value by key areas of oversight such as:

  • Development of an overarching Enterprise Procurement Strategy, including aspects of organizational design, process standardization, and implementation
  • Providing a high level of support to operations, overseeing the purchasing, distribution and logistics functions of service, supplies, and materials
  • Designing and implementing new inventory management systems, as well as policies and procedures that align with BC Ferries business objectives and are compliant with all legal or regulatory requirements.
  • Providing professional leadership and tactical support for formal competitive tendering and contract life cycle management.
  • Evaluating, developing, and implementing strategic supply and sourcing solutions for the procurement of goods and services that strengthens supplier relationships, drives best value and lowers the overall cost to purchase.
  • Developing and implementing value added supply chain related logistics strategies that enhance operational reliability and service levels, as well as optimizes inventory.
  • Providing technical, professional and support resources required for the procurement of goods and services for ship repair and maintenance.
