Boys & Girls Club of Brookings, Moody County, Yankton, & Vermillion are more than just places. They are part of a movement to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Position Summary: The Executive Director – Vermillion - responsible for the oversight, management, day-to-day operations, local public relations, and crisis management of the sites, including all Units, extensions, and community impact sites. They will serve as the face of the Clubs in that community. They will also be responsible for ensuring the implementation of the 5 key elements of positive youth development in their daily interactions with youth as well as their employees and are responsible for the oversight and compliance of Club polices, compliance, programming, safety, and culture. The Executive Director will engage with Club parents, staff, and the administrative team regarding administrative duties, youth behaviors, Club events, etc. as assigned. All employees of the Boys & Girls Club will be expected to uphold the mission of the Club.
Hours: General hours are 9-6pm, hours are based on Club needs & special events
Compensation: $60,000/year

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited University
  • Experience working with youth of ages Preschool through 12th Grade
  • Management/Supervisory Experience
  • Positive and optimistic outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to understand, implement, and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.
  • Must be able to provide leadership, on-the-spot and reflective feedback, and supervision to assigned employees to ensure they too understand and demonstrate principles of behavior management and other youth treatment modalities, per the Club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition, opportunities and expectations, and safety.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be of the mental and physical capacity to observe, interact, and communicate with youth, staff, volunteers, parents etc., at the Club to ensure the safety of the space.
  • Ability to stand/sit for long periods throughout a shift
  • Ability to operate various types of general office equipment including PC, telephone, copier, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Crisis Management of the facility, youth situations, and Club
  • Management of multiple Units, Extensions, and Community Impact Sites on a day-to-day
  • Establish relationships with school counselors and
  • Public relations in the community on the radio, television, print, tours, and with public
  • Unplanned and unexpected projects or responsibilities that arise that may typically be performed by the administrative team.
  • Ensure Unit staff implement the 5 Key Elements for Positive Youth
  • Exhibit the Club Values of excellence, impact driven, teamwork, and good
  • Facilitate and attend Club training, including the monthly staff
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and disciplining Club employees as assigned and monitoring the process for all programs.
  • Supervise assigned employees, which includes writing 60-day reviews, performance plans, and holding weekly and bi-weekly one-on-one meetings, as well as ensuring the unit and extension teams are getting completed.

  • Provide grant administration by ensuring all grant programs meet grant requirements and reporting
  • Ensure accuracy of tracking of all duplicated and unduplicated youth participation in the areas of academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Oversee the recruitment and marketing efforts for the

  • Continually evaluate Club programs, reporting results according to established deadlines and addressing the needs of Club members.

  • Attending 100% of all monthly staff meetings, weekly one-on-one meetings with supervisor, and weekly Coordinator meetings.
  • Responsible for holding biweekly team and individual one-on-one meetings with all direct report staff and ensuring that all Unit staff receive weekly or biweekly one-on-one meetings and that weekly meeting forms are being utilized.
  • Responsible for hiring, supervising, and evaluating all direct report staff by the creation and implementation of 60- day reviews, performance plans, and quarterly reviews.
  • Responsible for pulling null reports and reviewing overall entry and understanding of the membership management system.
