The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

We are seeking applications for someone to join us as the Executive Support Manager for the Police and Crime Commissioner for Sussex. You’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner and the busy team.
This varied role requires excellent organisation and time management, communication, and soft skills so that you can engage with various stakeholders, including senior officers, government officials, and community leaders.

And meet the key responsibilities as follows:

  • Provide exceptional executive management support to the PCC and Executive Management Team.
  • Facilitate communication between the PCC and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Manage the Public Correspondence Team and allocate tasks efficiently.
  • Lead training and coaching for team members, fostering their development.
  • Assist in drafting presentations, reports, and speeches for national conferences and meetings.
  • Lead recruitment processes for temporary staff and interns.
  • Oversee office management, including ICT provisions, finance administration, and business continuity planning.
  • To be the manager for the office which includes maintaining suitable business continuity plans, ensuring supplies and equipment are available and liaising with maintenance and the landlord.

Skills & Experience

  • Ideally degree-level qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced computer literacy, including Microsoft Office.
  • Administrations skills.
  • Experience supporting executives in an organisational setting.
  • Proven ability to prepare documentation for staff at an executive level.
  • Knowledge of governance or complaints handling within the public sector.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and work independently.
  • Supervisory experience and the capability to manage a team effectively.
