The Role:
As an Exercise Clinic Lead Physiotherapist with us, you’ll play a pivotal role in creating tailored assessment and exercise prescription for people with cancer. You will be proficient at assessing, planning and delivering exercise intervention programs and services from prehabilitation through to survivorship. You will be expected to contribute to the development of the clinical profile of GenesisCare and the expansion of the Exercise Medicine service.

What You’ll Do:

  • Responsible for the management of and co-ordination of the provision of the Exercise Medicine Service for all patients referred.
  • Responsible for the management and co-ordination of the out-patient oncology physiotherapy service
  • Responsible for ensuring all referred patients undergo a comprehensive initial assessment (including risk assessment) and setting a personalised prescribed course of exercise medicine.
  • Management and supervision of the Personal Trainer
  • Work in collaboration with the Centre Leader, and all relevant centre-based staff to ensure a seamless patient pathway and coordination of a patient’s cancer care.
  • Actively contribute to engagement events to promote awareness and understanding of the service.
  • Ensure patients receive the highest level of service in line with GenesisCare policies and procedures.

What You’ll Have:

Experience and skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years post graduate experience or equivalent clinical experience at a Band 6 level, predominately working with patients in Oncology. Must have completed rotations in Surgery, Medicine, Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedics/Neuro.
  • Extra training will be provided by GenesisCare.
  • Experience and ability of working in a clinic setting
  • Experience of teaching and supervising less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and use own initiative
  • Experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working
  • Evidence of active involvement in service development & contribution to change within the workplace
  • Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning and the management of complex cases
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills to a range of audiences e.g. patients, carers and other professionals
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others and effective time management
  • Ability to demonstrate clear understanding of clinical governance, quality assurance and audit and its application to the work setting.
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to best practice and awareness of relevant national standards/guidelines.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • BSc Degree in Physiotherapy or Diploma or equivalent
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration for profession
  • Evidence or portfolio of postgraduate continued development, preferably in oncology, rehabilitation and exercise science.
  • Membership of specialist interest group i.e. ACPOPC
