The Boeing Company is looking for an Experience DevOps Engineer to join the KC-46 Software team located in Tukwila, WA. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.
The selected candidate will be at the forefront of automating and streamlining our infrastructure and application lifecycle, ensuring that our software releases are both rapid and reliable.
Your role will involve designing and implementing robust CI/CD pipelines, managing scalable infrastructure, and integrating advanced monitoring and logging solutions to ensure high performance and availability. You will work in a collaborative environment where cross-functional teams rely on your expertise to maintain and enhance the efficiency of our development and operational processes. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation and achieve our business goals. Your ability to balance technical skills with problem-solving acumen will help in resolving complex issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring that our applications meet the highest standards of quality and security.
In addition, you will also have the opportunity to lead initiatives for adopting new tools and practices, contribute to strategic planning, and mentor junior team members. Your efforts will directly impact the speed of our deployments, the reliability of our systems, and the overall success of our KC-46 software projects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3+ years’ experience in software engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (Jenkins, Jira, BitBucket)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Leads activities to develop, document and maintain architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • 5+ years of experience automating software builds, unit tests, integration tests, deployment, and installations using a DevOps tool chain (ClearCase, ClearQuest)
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering

TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads development, documentation and maintenance of standardized, efficient, and innovative processes, tools, methodologies, and performance metrics to streamline the software engineering lifecycle and enable continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of safety critical software.
  • Leads automation, development, monitoring, improvement, and troubleshooting across software development, tooling, testing, integration, deployment, configuration processes, and security controls. Leads analysis, planning, and execution of mitigation strategies to prevent potential security risks, threats, and vulnerabilities.
  • Implements an environment that enables high levels of quality, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Collaborates with cross functional teams to build and maintain robust, scalable, and secure software engineering systems
  • Leads implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulations in the software engineering DevSecOps environment
