About the department:
ING Corporate Finance advises on M&A transactions, including buy side and sell side deals, strategic advisory assignments and capital raisings. The team supports the ING client base across many sectors, with a focus on transportation and infrastructure, food and agriculture, energy, telecom, media and technology (TMT). Corporate Finance is a growing M&A platform in New York that is part of a dynamic global team that also operates out of ING’s offices in London, Amsterdam, Madrid, Brussels, Frankfurt, Manila, Hong Kong and Singapore.
The Analyst III M&A role offers a mix of hands-on M&A transaction experience across industries and deal size ranges, with the majority having a cross-border aspect. You will work with other team members globally in the analysis, financial modelling, negotiation, sourcing, and managing of M&A transactions on behalf on ING’s clients, both financial sponsors and corporates. ING is seeking candidates that have some M&A experience already and are keen to progress their careers in the investment banking industry in a growing M&A platform. During the initial orientation period, you will receive initial training to introduce you to ING and the regulatory, legal and compliance components of your job. Thereafter and throughout your early career, you will participate in various trainings that will help build your hard and soft skills.
Responsibilities :
- You assist in the origination of new business opportunities by preparing and delivering client presentations, conducting sector and company research and tracking, as well as preparing briefing packages for both internal and external use
- You support the execution efforts on transactions and assist the team in ensuring timely and successful closings, working directly with senior team members
- You liaise closely with colleagues in other CM&A departments to deliver integrated solutions to ING’s clients
- You are responsible for preparing financial models and valuation analysis
- You act as a point of learning for Junior Analysts and monitor quality and accuracy of their output
- You represent ING professionally at site visits, management presentations and client meetings and start to build relationships with market counterparties and peers
- You actively participate in client meetings and build your business insight and interpersonal skills
- You contribute to revenue targets and assist in meeting the global budget
Qualifications and Competencies
- You hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Business, Economics, Finance, or Advance Mathematics with excellent results
- You have 2 or more years of experience in corporate or investment banking or similar M&A transaction environment, or have recently graduated with an MBA program
- You are adept at performing financial analysis with excellent modelling and analytical skills
- You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Transportation and infrastructure, energy, food and agriculture and/or TMT sector knowledge and exposure is a plus, but not required
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Foreign language capacity is helpful
- You possess a keen understanding of the M&A process
- You have, or are expected to obtain in short order, Series 7 or 79, and 63 registrations
- You have excellent analytical, valuation, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- You possess the ability to deliver with efficiency and effectiveness, often with minimal day-to-day oversight
- You have an exceptional eye for detail
- You demonstrate determination and dedication towards achieving your results often under tight timelines
- You are able to manage competing priorities and assignments
- You take initiative and ask questions when necessary
- You are willing to go above and beyond for the sake of the team and client’s objectives
- Proven track record of performing at the highest levels of review and appraisal metrics
- You work well as part of a team but also are able to work by yourself
Base Salary Range: $105,000-$115,000
