WE CALL OURSELVES ENGINEERING PIONEERS, WHICH MEANS THAT WE TAKE ON EVERY TASK WITH CREATIVITY AND A DRIVE TO FIND BETTER SOLUTIONS. WITH US, YOU GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO DEVELOP YOUR CAREER THROUGH PROJECTS IN BOTH RENEWABLES AND OIL AND GAS.

Aibel’s offices in Bergen, Haugesund, Stavanger, Harstad, and Hammerfest are seeking additional engineers with expertise in structural engineering. In this role, you will be involved in ongoing projects and support new studies and projects.

ABOUT THE POSITION

We are looking for candidates with expertise in structural strength calculations and hold an engineering or civil engineering degree in construction, mechanical engineering, or marine technology. Experience with design tools is advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Engineering degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) in construction, mechanical engineering, or marine technology
  • At least 10 years of experience in structural engineering, with documented experience leading complex FEA projects
  • Thorough understanding of the finite element method and its application to various structural challenges
  • Proficiency with analysis software such as Genie, Sesam, Abaqus, StaadPro, MathCAD, and familiarity with the design and modelling tool E3D
  • Ability to stay updated with the latest advancements in FEA software and structural analysis techniques
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience and willingness to mentor and train engineers in structural analysis and FEA

Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analyses, including local calculations, to assess the integrity and stability of diverse structures. Use finite element analysis (FEA) and other approaches to evaluate structural components and systems, including non-linear and dynamic simulations using advanced FEA software such as Abaqus
  • Apply knowledge of structural dynamics to evaluate the response of structures under different loading conditions, including vibration, fatigue, impact loads, and explosion loads
  • Ensure compliance with relevant design codes and regulations
  • Perform analysis work during the study phase, detailed design, and As-Built phase of projects
  • Review and verify that 3D models and 2D drawings align with analysis conditions
  • Collaborate with other disciplines within the project, conduct discipline and interdisciplinary checks of drawings and documents, and participate in internal design reviews as needed
