THE MILLER TAVERN YONGE STREET is currently hiring EXPERIENCED LINE COOKS to join our Culinary team!

The MILLER TAVERN YONGE STREET, a Hogg’s Hollow institution that dates back to the 1860’s, reveres tradition and reads classic American tavern. Market fresh dishes from the land and the sea are complemented by an extensive collection of spirits, a robust wine list featuring French and American vintages as well as expertly mixed classic cocktails. The MILLER TAVERN welcomes guests with its warm hospitality for lunch & dinner every day of the week.
Reporting to the Executive Chef, the LINE COOK is responsible for safely preparing dishes over an open fire. The ideal candidate must have previous kitchen experience and be motivated by a desire to progress in a dynamic, fast-paced, and challenging environment.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years as a LINE cook.
- Responsible for cooking fish, pasta and poultry for service as per costumers request.
- Prep (chopping, peeling, cutting) and stock cooking station with all the necessary ingredients and equipment
- Execute dishes with accuracy, speed, and detail; adhering to the recipes provided by the Executive Chef and his team of Chefs
- Ascertain the quality and freshens of products
- Monitor stock and log shortages as required
- Keep a clean workstation, including equipment and utensils; understand and abide by Health & Safety standards and Food Safe requirements
- Food Safe certification, is an asset
- workable knowledge of kitchen equipment
- Solid understanding of standard measurements and portions
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
- Excellent team player; camaraderie with all team members, BOH and FOH
- Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism; (i.e. punctuality, dedication, well-groomed, mannerly)
- Energetic with a passion for food and a positive outlook
- Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, mornings and nights
