Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

WSP is seeking an enthusiastic and business-minded experienced Urban Planner to join our growing team in the Edmonton Studio (Planning, Transportation & Infrastructure). As part of a dynamic interdisciplinary team, you will contribute to a variety of public and private sector projects across including master planning for mixed use development, permitting for net zero, large-scale industrial, design of low impact and climate-adapted projects across Western Canada. With studios in Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary, you will have an opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects and work alongside talented professionals from multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Planning Documents: Create and review drawings, maps, reports, and municipal planning documents such as zoning bylaws, municipal development plans, area structure plans and secondary plans.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on municipal regulations, planning policies, land use trends, socio-demographics, economic conditions, and environmental factors to support projects.
  • Due Diligence: Assist with due diligence of sites and provide recommendations on land development project applications, and approval processes.
  • Design Collaboration: Collaborate with urban designers to develop conceptual master plans, site plans, and design elements into planning projects.
  • Application Management: Prepare, submit, and manage applications for rezoning, permits, subdivisions, and boundary adjustments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and securing approvals.
  • Public Engagement: Assist in developing engagement materials, presentations, and strategies for public meetings, open houses, and workshops with stakeholders and authorities.
  • Policy Development: Assist in creating comprehensive plans, design guidelines, and planning strategies for urban and regional developments.
  • Data Compilation: Compile and analyze data, including historical, statistical, and topographical information, to support due diligence and technical reports.
  • Project Management: Assist in coordinating interdisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and ensure project priorities and quality standards are met.
  • Business Development: Assist with proposals, contracts, and other business development activities to secure public and private sector projects.
