EDUCATION:
University Degree in a related field (i.e. Education, Social Sciences) or equivalent (i.e. post-secondary Diploma and one year of related experience) or four years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
EXPERIENCE:
1- 2 years related experience coordinating an experiential program (i.e. internship or cooperative education). using a Student Information System and/or similar database/customer relationship management system. and student advising.
SKILLS:
Superior oral and written communication skills in French (module 1 advanced and 4 advanced) and English, including the ability to articulate and assimilate complex information. Keyboarding 50 wpm. MS Word (intermediate to advanced), MS Excel (intermediate), MS Access(intermediate), MS PowerPoint (intermediate). email (i.e. Lotus Notes). demonstrated experience with and knowledge of web design tools (i.e. HTML, FTP). demonstrated ability to perform internet searches. Sound knowledge of experiential education theory and practice.. proven research and analytical and reporting skills. proven success in establishing collaborative partnerships, excellent track record of building and maintaining business networks and relationships to achieve position/department objectives. demonstrated ability to implement improved processes. strong interpersonal and influencing skills. excellent organizational and planning skills. excellent problem solving skills. achieving results. ability to maintain confidentiality. work well independently and as a member of a team. accuracy and attention to detail. exercising initiative and good judgment. exercise tact and diplomacy. must be reliable and punctual.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director, Continuing Education & Business Development and working closely with the Vice Principal Academic, the Experiential Education Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of bilingual services designed to enhance, promote and support experiential education (EE) initiatives at Glendon (e.g. in-class experiential activities, community-based learning, and learning through partnership programs). These responsibilities include: participation in the development, planning, and coordination of experiential education activities and development of procedures and guidelines. implementing the Glendon Experiential Education Strategic Plan and related policies in consultation with the Vice Principal Academic within the Faculty. identifying funding opportunities for students. assisting the Vice Principal in drafting funding proposals and external partnerships contracts. acts as a liaison to the Office of Associate Vice-President, Teaching and Learning and future York University Experiential Education Office. maintaining data on EE courses and placement/internship opportunities. maintaining the EE website and other documentation. The EE Coordinator will also exercise responsibility in the implementation of special projects pertaining to EE and the enhancement of teaching at Glendon. A key focus for the position is to increase community , alumni and employer engagement in experiential education and innovative programs within Glendon to grow both local and global service-learning, placement and internship opportunities for students.
