  • Optimize funding programs by minimizing costs, contributing to increased profitability for Desjardins Group. Propose terms, currencies and issue types to optimize the cost of funding and the size of bond issues.
  • Discuss market forces affecting global bond supply and demand with external partners (domestic and international brokers).
  • Monitor market trends affecting the organization’s funding strategy, including monitoring industry peer funding practices.
  • Understand and stay on top of any changes to institutional funding programs used by systemically important financial institutions.
  • Monitor changes in the regulatory environment affecting liquidity, including facilities with the Bank of Canada.
  • Participate in executing short- and medium-term funding transactions in domestic and international markets and collaborate with various sectors (Legal Affairs, Financial Disclosure, Operations) of the organization to provide the legal requirements for issuing funding.
  • Help the investor relations team establish a strategy to grow the organization’s investor base.
  • Work with the team responsible for relations with credit rating agencies, using analytical support to maintain Desjardins’s strong credit ratings.
  • Work with Treasury portfolio managers to support investment decisions in highly liquid bonds.
  • Understand what comprises the organization’s cost of funds, and support and educate business lines on transfer pricing.
  • Monitor the foreign exchange risk associated with items affecting the balance sheet of an organization operating internationally.
  • Work with Risk Management to understand, analyze and optimize LCR, NSFR and NCCF liquidity ratios.
  • Support Risk Management with liquidity simulations (stress tests, integrated risk scenarios, recovery plans).
