Please note that this role is mainly based in laboratory with 80% responsibilities and 20% office.

The biological laboratory is at the forefront of research in the field of Crop Protection, specializing in both disease control trials (in vitro antimicrobial testing and in vivo efficacy assays conducted on fruit), fruit quality assessments, and innovation in Material Protection.
The technician is a member of the Janssen PMP Research & Innovation and Technical Support team and reports to the Head of the Biological laboratory.

The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:

The main activities of the Laboratory technician are the following

  • Design and perform a broad range of antimicrobial in vitro (standard and customized) assays, including liquid and solid medium benchmarking assays.
  • Conduct in vivo and in situ experiments on fruit or materials including efficacy trials and phytotoxicity assays.
  • Design and perform a broad range of assays to determine fruit quality.
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and media required for experiments.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning.
  • Record and report experimental data accurately, maintain detailed laboratory records in Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) in particular
  • Design and assist in the development and optimization of new assay protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

We’d love to hear from YOU, if you have:

  • Professional bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Prior experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably with exposure to both in vitro and in vivo assays.
  • Familiarity with microbiological laboratory techniques and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow experimental protocols accurately.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Curiosity, Openness and creativity are important soft skills for the position.
  • Good English communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Proficiency in computer skills (MS Office, ELN)
  • Additional, general technical skills are considered as plus.
  • Ability to grow within the organization.
