JOB SUMMARY:
Are you passionate about building impactful partnerships and helping BYU students develop their potential? As the External Relations Manager, your primary mission will be to work with industrial sponsors, faculty, students, and coaches to develop and ensure the success of capstone projects, where student teams solve real-world engineering problems during their senior year. Additionally, you’ll help us engage with approximately 3000 department alumni and will support faculty in securing transformative research grants. Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL DO IN THIS POSITION:
- Develop and Maintain Relationships: Identify and engage engineering firms, alumni, and potential sponsors of projects. Manage a database to track progress and outcomes.
- Proposal and Contract Management: Collaborate with faculty and industry partners to create compelling capstone proposals. Negotiate and ensure compliance with contractual agreements, working with BYU¿s administrative units as needed.
- Communication and Coordination: Oversee communications between sponsors, coaches, students, and BYU employees to ensure success of the projects. Manage communications with alumni, organize on-campus alumni events, and host alumni visitors on campus.
- Financial Management: Handle financial aspects of sponsorships, including budgeting, invoicing, and expenditure tracking.
- Grant Proposal Development: Assist department faculty in securing research funding from government and industry sources.
