The College of Computing was established in 1990 as the first such College at a public university and the second in the United States. Since that time, the college has grown into a world-class leader in research and education. The graduate CS program is currently ranked 6th and the undergraduate 5th nationally by U.S. News and World Report. The College consists of five Schools that provide specialized and general computing education to the entire campus. With over 16-degree programs, including its world-renowned online MS in CS, we believe the College to be the largest Computing unit in the United States and, as such, one of the largest producers of computationalist at all levels and of all demographic backgrounds. JOB SUMMARY

Plan, coordinate and implement routine and/or complex Alumni activities. Such programs include maintaining alumni databases, alumni groups and club liaison, awards, volunteerism, on-line services and publications and related communication media
This position will interact on a regular basis with: Institute and corporate executives, Institute alumni and friends; department staff

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Overnight travel requutreached for project delivery; flexibility in on-site daily service delivery hours Degree in (due to client shift schedules, project requutreachements).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Four to five years of job related experience

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to coordinate activities among diverse groups and stakeholders is preferred Fluency in a second language may be preferred

PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s Degree

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

A master’s degree in public relations or a relevant field with five (5) or more years’ experience in alumni relations and engagement and managing partnerships with community, corporate, and industry partners.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

This position is anticipated to travel 30% of time.

Responsibilities:

ADDITIONAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The External Relations Specialist (The Director of Alumni Relations) will develop and implement strategic initiatives that guide alumni through a journey of engagement, from initial connection to a deeper understanding of the College of Computing¿s goals, context, and needs. By facilitating meaningful relationships, this position will create opportunities for alumni to connect with the College¿s schools and units in ways that align their interests and expertise with institutional priorities. Additionally, the role will strengthen collaborations with internal and external partners to enhance these engagement efforts and drive sustained impact.

Job responsibilities will include:

  • Liaise with the Alumni Association to increase participation in events and opportunities hosted through their organization, such as 40 Under 40, Student Alumni Association, Homecoming, etc.
  • Build meaningful relationships with individual alumni, donors, and other members within the community to better understand their interests and align them with the College¿s goals and needs.
  • Identify opportunities to foster relationships with alumni, encouraging active engagement in both in-person and virtual events and communications that deepen their understanding of the College¿s schools, units, and institutional priorities.
  • Develop impact and stewardship reports for donors and assist the senior director of development in establishing a streamlined, collaborative process involving faculty and leadership.
  • Represent the college and its units to foster relationships with alumni, community, corporate, and industry partners.
  • Track, compile, analyze, and report data related to alumni engagement opportunities and initiatives.
  • Organize social, mentoring, and professional programs and events for alumni to engage with other alumni, students, faculty, and staff in Atlanta and other key cities/markets.
  • Manage all aspects of alumni engagement initiatives within the defined scope, quality, time, and cost constraints.
  • Collaborate with alumni affinity groups to connect with the global alumni community.
  • Facilitate a culture of giving and engagement with graduating students that serves as the foundation for their involvement as alumni.
  • Partner with the Colleges communications team to develop messaging on various platforms, including social media, newsletters, and other networking platforms.
  • Partner with the Director of Development to refer potential donor prospects.
  • Partner with the college’s student support and success team to identify engagement opportunities and career pathways for students.
  • Partner with other staff in the College to facilitate community and outreach partnerships.
