JOB SUMMARY:

The Die Design Engineer will play a crucial role in the development and optimization of dies used in manufacturing processes. This position requires a deep understanding of die design principles, proficiency in CAD software, and a strong problem-solving mindset.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-year degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with ME10, AutoCAD, experience including hollow die design and feasibility, extrusion press characteristic and metal flow.
  • Minimum three to five years of Aluminum extrusion die design, manufacturing. ME10, AutoCad, NX, Unigraphics, Solidworks,

PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of aluminum extrusion tooling design.
  • Ability to quickly analyze technical challenges, develop functional solutions and clearly communicate.
  • Must be able to work cohesively in a team environment.
  • Must have passion around safety. Must drive a safety culture where safety is the number one priority for all employees. Knowledge of Hydro safety processes and procedures. Proven ability to intervene, recognize, and eliminate hazards.
  • Must be able to understand and deliver basic commands in English.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide die designs and necessary support tooling designs, section prints to die vendors.
  • Work with vendors on die capabilities.
  • Review vendor designs for accuracy and approve.
  • Enter die related data into Oracle.
  • Review first run rates and request design changes as needed.
  • Maintain CAD drawings in appropriate folders.
  • Work closely with Extrusion to improve die performance, use performance history and continually work to improve the die design.
  • Accurately interpret customers/per-sale requests. Work with appropriate personnel to resolve all discrepancies and/or deviations prior to manufacturing. Work closely with Engineering team and internal and external customers to provide best possible designs.
  • Work to continually improve quality, eliminate waste and meet customer demands.
