PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Experience with F-18/Fighter or Depot Level/Heavy General maintenance
- Canopy work: removal, installation to include rigging
- Installation, Troubleshooting and removal of fighter engines
- Servicing: Nitrogen, fuel/defuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, etc
- Operate an aircraft tug/tow vehicle, forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignment
TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED and typically 3+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Perform efforts associated with flight controls installation, removal and rigging. Landing gear ops check, door rigging and servicing of aircraft
- Perform essential component change outs for example servo pumps, filters, APU, and engine components
- Perform engine runs, fuel AC, Defuel AC, perform trouble shot components, fuel systems, hydraulics
- Demonstrates the capability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specification, and retrofit requirements to perform repair or replace components
- The mechanic will be required to access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate on-line parts and discrepancy requests
- Maintain necessary certifications, licenses and permits as required for assigned work
- May lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks
- Able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects
- Ensure that all equipment is used in accordance with established safety and operating procedures
- Diagnose and correct malfunctions occurring in assembly processes
- Use any and all precision measuring instruments, gauges, tools, etc., necessary to check dimensions and conformance to quality requirements
- Able to ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds
- Able to work various shifts and/or an alternate baseline schedule that may frequently change to support mission requirements and may include weekends and holidays. Mission requirements and/or workload may require both scheduled and unscheduled overtime
- Must be familiar with Hazardous Energy and Lock Out /Tag systems applications to ensure working environment is deemed safe for access and on the job performance
- Will be required to assist other team members (Avionics, Structures, Electrics) in order to ensure cost/schedule targets are met
