JOB SUMMARY

The Fabrication Technician Lead takes direction from the Maintenance Manager and oversees the fabrication technician(s) and provides daily work direction. This position is responsible for performing fabrication, repair, and modification of plastic extrusion equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Must have associate’s degree in Welding; experience may be considered in lieu of form education (3-5 years)
• Must have welding experience (MIG and TIG)
• Must have plumbing experience
• Must have prior fabricating experience and the ability to read drawings
• Must have experience in sheet metal work

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

CONTACTS: Internal – Continuously (67 - 100%) External – Rarely (1 – 5%)
Contacts involve giving or exchanging information of a limited controversial nature.

Regularly

• Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Talk and hear to coordinate day-to-day phone and in person transactions
• Exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.
• Communicates via phone, email, in person

Frequently

• Lift and/or move up to 60 lbs.
• Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dusts, and risk of electric shock and non-hazardous chemicals agents.

Occasionally

• Handle, with mechanical equipment, weights exceeding 250 lbs.
• Exposed to hazardous materials as defined by the OSHA Hazard Communication standard.
• Exposure to noise levels above the OSHA action level may be possible.
• Required to sit, perform keyboard work.
• Operates a computer and other office equipment such as a copy machine and printer.

Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, respirators, face shield, hearing protection, Tyvek suit, gloves, etc. Proper personal safety equipment is to be used while performing this job as pointed out by plant safety procedures.

• Perform necessary welding in production environment.
• Operate cutting tools/equipment, drill presses, grinders, and other machine shop equipment
• Reading blueprints, equipment rigging and installation, knowledge of sheet metal work, pipes & steel fabrication, assembly/disassembly of equipment, routine maintenance, and repair of plastic extruders, blenders, and other related equipment.

• Maintains a clean and safe work environment
• Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent.
