Job Description

AECOM’s façade engineering team is seeking a talented, experienced, and technical Associate Director Façade Engineer to Join our team in our Manchester office. This will be a visible role within our organisation and offer many growth opportunities, both technically and operationally.
We are a close-core team of 10 façade engineers based in London and Manchester. We collaborate with a broader network of specialists within the AECOM family.
The team is currently delivering the design of various projects in the UK, Ireland, and further afield in multiple sectors, including Healthcare, Residential, Commercial, Transport, Sports, Mixed Use and Retrofit. Many of these are delivered as part of a multi-discipline AECOM design team in collaboration with our Sustainability, Fire, Structures, MEP, Lighting, Acoustics, Energy, Cost, and Project Management consultants and specialisms. Our team also delivers work to external clients as a direct appointment.
To be successful in this role, you will assume general responsibilities for façade consultancy input to a wide range of clients and projects. You will proactively contribute to the growth of AECOM’s Façade Engineering team’s capabilities.

The façade team is currently working on a range of projects, demonstrated by the selection below:

• From the refurbishment of Foster and Partner’s 10 Gresham Street in London to the new HS2 Birmingham Interchange Station.
• From the site installation of Eric Parry’s Salisbury Square Development in London to the design of a new pharmaceutical laboratory in Brussels.
• From the design of a retractable envelope of an exclusive tennis facility in Saudi Arabia to the heritage-sensitive design for a converted Grade II listed water tower.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Extensive experience in the façade industry and dedicated façade consultancy experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively, be client-facing, and write concise and clear reports.
• A detailed understanding of system design considerations, performance analysis of the systems, and testing procedures.
• Experience in bidding for or supporting the winning of work.
• Knowledge of relevant façade & structural software, e.g., Strand 7, SJ MEPLA, Therm or Flixo, Autocad, Revit.Ability to use all Microsoft Office and related packages.
• An architectural, engineering, or building design-related degree

• Implement a holistic engineering approach to our projects to encompass performance, buildability, and aesthetic considerations.
• Develop façade solutions with various façade systems and materials from concept to implementation.
• Share your knowledge with your colleagues and provide them with mentorship and guidance.
• Work directly with our clients, the wider design team, and the supply chain.
• Oversee and manage the production of engineering analyses such as thermal, structural, and embodied carbon.
• Proactively assist with work winning.
