FACILITIES AND GROUNDS MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR

    The Department of Justice and Community Safety is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system. Youth justice custodial centres accommodate young people aged 10-18 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the Criminal Division of the Children’s Court, and some 18-21 year old sentenced by adult courts to a youth justice custodial centre. YJCS aims to engage young people in change by addressing their offending behaviour and equipping them with the skills required for positive community participation, within a safe and secure environment.
    There are three Youth Justice Custodial Precincts in Victoria managed by the department. The Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct, which has been decommissioned and no longer accommodates young people, is located approximately 100 kilometres north of Melbourne. The Parkville Youth Justice Precinct is located in the inner north of Melbourne and the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct which is located in Little River to the west of Melbourne.

The opportunity

  • Fixed-Term, full-time position based at Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct Melbourne.
  • VPS 4 role: $95,102 - $107,905 per year plus super.
  • Lead a team who are responsible for the day-to-day building and grounds maintenance, fault rectification, building development and preventative maintenance programs in accordance with relevant building codes, regulations and compliance codes, plant and equipment specifications and OH&S legislation.
  • Work in a secure environment and be responsible for maintaining the security of the centre, contractors, staff and visitors.
  • Ensure that all the precincts’ facilities, infrastructure, safety measures and grounds meet the operational requirements and comply with relevant legislative and departmental requirements
  • Regular travel to other Youth Justice Precincts or locations may be required.

Responsibilities:

You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
