POSITION SUMMARY

The Faculty Curriculum Developer is primarily responsible for developing, designing, implementing, and evaluating the College curriculum as part of the Academic Team. Reporting to the Associate Dean, you will play a critical role in safeguarding academic quality assurance and maintaining the integrity and quality of the College programming.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Subject matter expertise in program or course area
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in a related field of study preferred. Relevant experience and expertise will be considered equivalent to formal education.
  • Experience developing, delivering, and evaluating curricula and previous teaching experience in a post-secondary environment is considered an asset
  • Experience fostering a rich learning environment and creative teaching and evaluation methods, incorporating a variety of teaching methodologies and technologies is an asset
  • An ability to apply an understanding of diversity and inclusiveness to meet the needs of a diverse staff and student population
  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • A proven ability to work within a collaborative environment, including effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills to collaborate with the program team
  • Strong organizational ability to manage one’s own work
  • Advanced computer literacy (MS Office Suite, including Teams) and a demonstrated willingness to acquire and use learning tools (such as Loyalist’s LMS)

    Benefits eligibility is based on the weekly assigned teaching hours for the Contract Academic Staff:

  • 1 to 6 hours per week are Part-Time status

  • 7 to 12 hours per week are Partial-Load status
  • 13 or more are Sessional status

The weekly hours will by assigned by your Associate Dean.

  • Attends preliminary and regular check-in meetings with Associate Dean, Academic Coordinator and other staff supporting course development
  • Designs and develop content that meets Loyalist’s mandate for outcomes-based, learner-centered teaching strategies and assessments
  • Contributes to planning discussions and determining development criteria for content design that considers pedagogy, flexible delivery options, accessibility requirement, and universal design for learning
  • Develop all curriculum content, such as PowerPoint slides, detailed assessments, rubrics, teaching materials, activities, and lesson structures
  • Collect learning materials where they exist and update older materials / create new ones based on the program requirements
  • Collaborate with appropriate internal departments (e.g. Curriculum) and external consortium partners to ensure alignment
  • Produce and submit content and activities on a weekly basis
  • Engage in final review and sign-off of each course module, according to Loyalist processes
