Location: DBS, Central Dublin Campus
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Typical working day is 8.45am – 5.15pm but flexibility will be required to occasionally include a weekend day
Purpose of this role
DBS operates a School comprising different educational disciplines across Business, Law, Marketing, Accounting and Finance, Computing, Human and Social Sciences and Arts, and a suite of professional accountancy courses and professional development diplomas.
The Faculty Manager will assist the Head of Teaching Delivery and Content Production in the management of academic staff at Dublin Business School. The Faculty Manager has direct line-management responsibility for a large number of staff, ensuring programmes are staffed correctly, staff performance is measured and reviewed, annual budgets are prepared, costs are controlled, and reporting on academic performance of staff to internal governance and quality boards.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Liaison with Academic Operations on the creation of timetables;
  • Staff planning of all modules and programmes across the full academic year, including summer courses, bespoke programmes and short modules;
  • Development and management of staff in line with HR policies and practices, including organising and managing staff development workshops in association with the Academic Director(s)/Head of Department;
  • All people management activities including planning and coordinating the recruitment, development and management of staff in line with HR policies and practices;
  • Work with the Assistant Faculty Manager in the induction of new Faculty to DBS and the Department;
  • Managing staffing issues and requirements arising from planned or unplanned absences, including the use of the HR staff management system (currently Workday);
  • Ensuring the application and implementation by academic staff of the Quality Assurance Handbook and Compliance guidelines and policies ;
  • Ensuring the implementation by academic staff of teaching and learning improvement initiatives;
  • Identifying actions and following through with academic staff on feedback from stakeholders, including staff, students, employers, funders, partners and others;
  • Reporting to the appropriate internal Boards on all academic staffing related matters;
  • Input to the Budget of Teaching Delivery and Content Production as it relates to specific area of responsibility including agreeing, checking and recommending payments to part-time staff through a timesheet or equivalent process;
  • Interfacing with the Marketing and Admissions Department to ensure full coordination of all activity between both areas.
  • This includes ensuring;
  • All marketing initiatives are supported by Faculty
  • Faculty are prepared for new intakes, both within and outside of the traditional academic calendar
  • Non-standard admission requests are processed effectively and in a timely manner by the School
  • Ensuring all staff complete mandatory training;
  • Drive, support and facilitate DBS’ staff engagement initiatives;
  • Continually pursue opportunities to improve engagement amongst Faculty;
  • Coordinating Faculty staff meetings periodically;
  • Attendance at Programme team meetings, Examination Boards, Graduation, Class representative meetings and other meetings as required.
