Description:
BCIT’s Digital Arts, Media and Design department is seeking 2 regular, part-time (0.4 FTE) Faculty, New Media Design and Web Development to teach a range of courses to full time students in the New Media Design and Web Development (NMD) program. BCIT’s Digital Arts, Media and Design within the School of Business + Media offers a range of programs in the areas of Animation and Gaming, Web and Mobile, and Communication and Graphics.
THE COURSE VACANCIES ARE AS FOLLOWS FOR THE OTHER POSITION:
MDIA 4016 – New Media Marketing (20%)
- This course is an overview of web, mobile and social media marketing. The emphasis will be on developing a cost-effective web and social media marketing campaign for small businesses. Special focus will be placed on marketing tactics and advertisement programs for mobile, web and social media. Students will develop a general awareness of diverse advertising campaigns including the understanding of storytelling, metadata, search engine promotion, on-line branding, domain names, blog monetarization, ads standards, microsites, email advertising, and trends in these fields. Students will be assessed by a combination of quizzes, group and individual projects.
MDIA 3305 – Digital Layouts and Interactive Media (20%)
- This course teaches students how to express their design concepts and ideas using Adobe InDesign. Student will learn how to create page layouts and interactive media. Student will learn to navigate the program’s interface and utilize its various tools. They will also learn how to manage files, projects and assets to create a seamless workflow. Students will utilize the theory and practice of design, taught in the MDIA 1905 Graphic Design for New Media course, to render effective content using shapes, typography, and colour. Students will be assessed by a combination of quizzes, group and individual project.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or degree in a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum five years of relevant experience related to New Media, across a range of areas including:
- Web and app programing including version control, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node, PHP, Ajax, JSON, MongoDB, React, web services APIs and CMS systems (WordPress).
- User Interface / User Experience and new technologies including augmented reality, virtual reality, 3d printing, remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS, or drones) and at least a year of experience in generative Artificial Intelligence.
- Graphic design, storytelling/film, project management and online marketing.
- Demonstrated industry success and appropriate and current experience and skills in the instructional areas noted above.
- Minimum five years of experience in post-secondary teaching and student evaluation skills, over a range of instructional areas noted above.
- Ability to prepare, deliver and administer relevant and applied in-person course material, including effective coaching and assessment of students, in a manner that promotes learner motivation and successful acquisition of skills and knowledge.
- Excellent communication and interaction skills, both oral and written.
- Flexible, creative, and enthusiastic presentation approach and ability to deliver interactive and experiential sessions.
- Demonstrated teamwork abilities in a collaborative working environment.
