Description:

POSITION DETAILS

The Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge is seeking applications for a number of Sessional Lecturer positions within Professional Semester II, as well as Education electives and Education 2500 courses in the undergraduate teacher education program.

  • Professional Semester II, courses are offered in the Spring semester (Jan – Feb).
  • Education elective courses are offered in the Fall (Sept-Dec), Spring (Jan-April), Summer Session I (May-June) and Summer Session II (July) semesters.
  • Education 2500 is offered on the Lethbridge Campus in the Fall (Sept-Dec), Spring (Jan-April) and Summer Session I (May-June) semesters and on the Calgary Campus in Summer Session I semester only. Practicum placements are made locally in each respective city. Travel expenses related to practicum supervisory duties are reimbursable.

Depending on the applicant’s interests, sessional lecturers may be assigned up to 3 courses in a contract period.
Applications are encouraged from all qualified individuals including retired K-12 Teachers and Administrators. We are interested in receiving applications from people with expertise in school curriculum areas. As well, applicants with expertise in any of our other core teaching areas (e.g., Foundations, Educational Psychology and/or Special/Inclusive Education, and Instructional Technology) are also encouraged to apply.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • A Bachelor of Education degree and Professional Teaching Certification is required
  • Interest in the professional preparation/development of teachers
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills in order to work effectively with colleagues and student teachers
  • Fluency with curriculum, as well as current theories and practices in areas of expertise
  • Previous involvement in a university field experience program as a teacher associate or mentor teacher is desirable
    Each applicant is asked to specify the curricular areas and grade levels in which he/she has the greatest experience or qualification, and to describe any unique educational experiences (e.g., working in Indigenous schools and communities; alternative education programs; leadership; technology integration, etc.) that may be of value to the program.
