Description:

Gateshead Council’s Early Help Service is seeking to appoint a full-time Family Intervention Worker to join our Targeted Family Support team in providing a high-quality service to families with dependent children.
You will understand child development and have an excellent working knowledge of the issues facing vulnerable children and their families.

You will hold a relevant family support related qualification (early years, youth work, youth justice, social work, housing support, etc) at Level 3 or equivalent and have significant demonstrable experience in a field related to family support.
You will understand safeguarding thresholds and procedures and have knowledge of relevant legislation in the child/family support field.
You must also understand the importance of maintaining professional boundaries and have knowledge of equal opportunities, anti-oppressive practice and the impact of discrimination.
You will have good communication skills both written and verbal, including report-writing and presentation skills.
You will have experience of working in partnership with a wide range of professionals and be able to plan and manage a caseload of families with a wide variety of needs.
You will have experience of building excellent relationships with parents/carers, children and young people, identifying their needs and developing support plans alongside families which lead to lasting change.
You will be able to prioritise and organise your own workload, adhering to service timescales, providing a timely, responsive service to families; working on your own initiate and adhering to safe lone working practices.
A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and casework recording systems is essential.
