EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of delivering support services to families, young people and adults with complex needs including autism E, A&I
  • Experience of multi-agency working E, A&I
  • Experience of working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other Neurodevelopmental Disorders E, A&I
  • Experience of working in a public health project D, A
  • Experience of delivering training to families D, A&I
  • Experience of safeguarding vulnerable children and young peoples E, A&T

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g. autism, education, health & social care) E, A
  • Trained to level of Designated Safeguarding Officer (or willing to work towards) D, A

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Ability to communicate effectively in sensitive and complex cases with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and with varying needs. E, A&I
  • An ability to remain calm, objective and proactive when faced with complex cases, including safeguarding E, A&I
  • A thorough understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with neurodevelopmental differences E, I
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills E, A/T/I
  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to be sympathetic and discreet E, I
  • IT literate and able to use all appropriate software packages E, A
  • Excellent record keeping skills E, A

Responsibilities:

KEY TASKS

  • Act as the main point of contact for families in need of support and signpost to other services and teams as appropriate
  • Asses the needs of families that are new to the service in order to be able to signpost them to the most appropriate support and services.
  • Provide a bespoke package of support that is tailored to the needs of the individual families and may include providing strategies and advice, written information and liaising with other services to ensure they get the support that they need.
  • Train as a Sleep Counsellor and deliver a package of sleep support and learning workshops to parents/carers who have a child/young person with an identified additional need.
  • Build and maintain positive, trust-based relationships with families and young people/adults, in order to identify the key issues which are relevant to them.
  • Plan and deliver 1:1 support and group support activities such as parent coffee mornings and drop-in sessions.
  • Maintain and develop an up-to-date knowledge of local service provision for
  • appropriate signposting and referrals.
  • Contribute towards the protection of individuals from abuse by adhering to Daisy Chains safeguarding policies at all times.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained and that Daisy Chains GDPR Policy is adhered to at all times.
