Description:
As part of the hospice’s crucial Family Support Team, you will support children, young adults up to the age of 35 years, their parents, carers and extended family. The role is varied and challenging involving direct work, group work, crisis intervention and long-term work with adults and children.
The Family Support Team is part of the wider multi-disciplinary care team and consists of social workers, counsellors, a play therapist and creative arts counsellor and a chaplain. We all work closely as a team, sharing duty tasks as well as working autonomously. We work with children, young adults and their families from the point of referral to bereavement and beyond. You will work alongside colleagues as well as independently including telephone support, home visits, face to face support in the hospices as well as group and team events. You will also contribute to the team by supporting with information and resource co-ordination, co-ordinating volunteers and assisting with team duty tasks.
About you:
You will need to evidence significant experience in working with children and/ or adults with disabilities and health conditions. You will need to be able to build strong relationships as well as advocate/ challenge external organisations on behalf of the families we work with. A working knowledge of the impact of bereavement, and a resourceful and proactive approach is required. In addition, the role demands excellent communication skills, adaptability, compassion and self-motivation, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A driving license is essential as you will need to work at a number of different venues including family homes and community settings.

We are looking for someone to work on a permanent, part time basis.
Working 22.5 hours per week.
Working hours may vary, with the occasional out of hours commitment and a degree of flexibility.

Salary: £25,300 - £28,699 FTE per annum (Pro-rata for part time hours)
