FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER - FULL TIME/PERMANENT

Location: Newbury - travel to Amegreen Education sites will be required
Salary: up to £29,000
Following the success and local demand for our services, we are delighted to announce that we will be opening a secondary SEN school located in Newbury, West Berkshire. You will join us within Amegreen Education, which encompasses our Alternative Learning Farm provisions situated across rural West Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
Across our network of Alternative learning provisions, Therapy Centre and Children’s homes, our dedicated and experienced school staff work in collaboration with specialist teams of professionals to enable every young person to explore and develop their own unique talents. We enable possibilities and opportunities through our variety of services along with the stability of a school placement.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of working with children and families in a home visiting role and/ or delivering in a parenting programme.
  • Ability to work as part of a professional network (including foster carers, social workers, schools) to advocate for the families wishes and feelings
  • Knowledge of the challenges that families face, including mental health, learning disabilities and financial pressures, and know how to support them through those challenges.
  • Knowledge of Safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe practices.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Compassionate and approachable with a strong commitment to supporting children and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a therapeutic programme to parents/carers to support placement stability
  • Work directly with the children and their families including supervised contact sessions
  • Work closely with parents, teachers, and administration to address attendance issues.
  • To have regular contact with the children, both in person and on the phone
  • Liaise and work with other professionals and agencies to achieve optimal outcomes for children, young people and their families (including foster carers), ensuring services are ‘joined up’ in approach
  • Completing referrals and meeting with families to discuss their concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Act as a point of contact for safeguarding concerns.
