Description:

Summary
The Farm Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing general building and property maintenance. They will assist with maintaining heating and ventilation systems, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems and equipment. The Farm Maintenance Technician is also responsible for assisting with installing, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining equipment in accordance with safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes. The Farm Maintenance Technician shall also assist with keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition; help with bird transfers as required. Additional duties may include general grounds maintenance as required. Other tasks may be required as directed.
Schedule
This is a full-time position working on average 40 hours a week; Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm. Varying hours, weekend, on-call, and holiday work may be required depending on operational requirements.

Position Accountabilities

  • Perform mechanic duties including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
  • Plan and coordinate all repairs on equipment, building and facilities at API locations as required
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
  • Schedule and ensure regular preventive maintenance is performed on machines, equipment and farm facilities
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Update and maintains Atlantic Poultry Incorporated records systems and department databases
  • Set priorities and communicates with plant manager preventative maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for the maintenance department
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain various electrical components, appliances and equipment in accordance with pertinent codes
  • Initiate safety concerns and make judgment on the best methods of completing
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Willing to travel and engage in various operations (NS, NB, and NL) for project development and implementation
  • The ability to prioritize and time manage is critical in this position
  • Be willing to work a flexible work week with extended hours when necessary
  • Provide technical support via phone or Teams to other facilities
  • Comply with Occupational Health and Safety standards and practices
  • Perform general cleanup of all facilities
  • Perform regular property inspections of buildings, common areas, building exteriors, and landscape
  • Ensure effective management of loss prevention, risk management, security, maintenance, landscaping, snow removal, ventilation, heating
  • Maintaining an inventory of all equipment, tools and machinery
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Prepare, paint and repair interior and exterior surfaces, as required
  • Protect the organization’s value by keeping all protected and proprietary information confidential
  • Practice bio security protocol
  • Follow all safety processes and procedures
  • All other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Trade certified as one or more of following (an asset): Millwright, Mechanic, or Machinist
  • Additional experience and/or certification as an Electrician would be an asset
  • Previous maintenance experience in the agriculture processing industry preferred
  • Attention to detail and excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communications skills, customer service skills
  • Physical ability to lift 50lbs
  • Valid Driver License and Driver Abstract
  • Able to work well under pressure & maintain professionalism
  • Proven self-starter with the demonstrated ability to work well independently with little to no supervision
  • Highly skilled at Office 365 applications including Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
