THE OPPORTUNITY: FEA SUPPORT ENGINEER – CAE SOLVER GROUP
We are currently looking for a versatile finite element analysis support engineer with development skills to join the Maya HTT UK division. This group develops and supports thermal, mechanical, and computational fluid dynamics analysis tools and applications for Maya HTT’s clients in the field of mechanical engineering. Working mostly on site at our customer’s location, this position supports a multi-year project to support and further develop the SC03 software, which is a mission critical thermo-mechanical FE-based CAE software used by hundreds of expert engineers to design gas turbines. To continue our steady growth, we are looking for highly talented individuals to join our team in the United Kingdom. Job Description Summary:
- Achieve mastery of SC03 - a mission critical FEA simulation software system which performs thermo-mechanical, linear and non-linear structural analysis for the design of gas turbines
- Understand client workflows, requirements, and needs, and recommend solutions and best practices in software support situations
- Investigate and troubleshoot software defects
- Participate in new feature development through design, programming, and testing
- Become proficient in the delivery of existing training courses and eventually become the tutor for these courses;
- Participate in the development of self-paced training courses
- Document all work performed
- Work onsite at customers’ facilities in Bristol 4 days per week.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or other related fields with an emphasis on CAE or simulation
- A background in numerical methods for structural or thermal analysis is desirable, including knowledge of finite element (FE) methods
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Knowledge of CAD/CAE platforms and engineering processes
- Analytical and software programming skills are desirable, with experience in Fortran programming
- Customer-facing, ability to work with clients and team members across the globe
- Experience with CAD/CAE APIs, is a strong asset
- Experience with DevOps tools is a plus
- Self-motivated
