TITLE: Federal Financial Systems Developer/Analyst
LOCATION: Herndon, VA
CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Active DoD Secret Clearance
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-time, On-site

POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Systems Developer to join the team in the Herndon, VA area to provide strong development skills to resolve complex technical issues and to build new requested features for our customer and to begin an exciting and rewarding career with our company.

RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

  • Develop and update custom software code for financial systems.
  • Analyze problem reports and prepare accurate schedule estimates to develop solutions.
  • Document software code sufficiently and accurately.
  • Provide support to business analysts and testers in identifying anomalies.
  • Reliably and accurately report progress within the software development support tools.
  • Provide program documentation input for design and solution elements.
  • Assist junior developers and manage development tasks as needed.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree within systems development, finance or another relevant field.
  • Or 4 years of additional relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of C++ development experience.
  • 2+ years of webMethods development experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience in Java programming.
  • 3+ years of experience writing complex SQL queries.
  • Experience supporting Momentum Financial Management software.
  • Experience working in an Oracle RDBMS environment.
  • Exposure to large scale ERP development solutions.
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reports to a physical location which occasionally requires the ability to traverse between buildings.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage stress with a high degree of maturity/professionalism.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and leadership skills.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with Momentum 8.x architecture (OpenShift Container Platform, JBoss, ActiveMQ).
  • 2+ years of experience working with Javascript.
  • 1+ year of experience working in a Linux development environment.
  • Familiar with BIRT Report Designer.
  • Fundamental understanding of federal financials.
  • Knowledge of the SAP Business Objects tool suite.
  • Experience with JIRA.
  • Must communicate well with other team members and balance shifting priorities to meet deadlines.
