Description:
This is a people-facing, research and advocacy role at the Federal Liaison Center (FLC) of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The Federal Policy Associate role will have a focus on policy research and member training. In this role, you will write policy documents, track key federal legislation, and advocate on behalf of GFOA members. You will also attend roughly 15 in-person member events per year, in which you will take an active role. The Federal Policy Associate will be part of a small but mighty team, and will have opportunities to learn and grow while providing the necessary policy support we need to meet our goal of providing exceptional service to the 23,000+ members of GFOA.
REQUIREMENTS:
- MBA (Finance), MPA/ MPP is suggested/recommended or equivalent related experience
- 1-2 years job experience in public finance
- This is a hybrid position, candidates must live in the DMV
- Applicants must be authorized to work full-time without restriction for any U.S. employer
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in an office environment. Must be able to travel short distances within office. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop content for our member-focused education offerings
- Organize, administer, and attend in-person coalition advocacy events, including but not limited to Hill briefings and fly-ins
- Draft articles, web postings, and talking points
- Develop policy papers, draft written testimony, and statements for the record
- Assist GFOA Education team with policy-related education offerings for members by identifying topics and helping to develop training
- Take active role at in-person member events
- Act as Committee Lead
