Description:

The appointment is for a 12 (extendable to 24) months whole time post which will provide training in all aspects of lymphoma and CAR T therapy in the inpatient and outpatient setting. This is an opportunity to join a nationally leading centre at the forefront of research and clinical innovation in haemato-oncology. Clinical and educational supervision will be provided by Consultants in the lymphoma team as part of a wider multidisciplinary team and the post includes opportunities for engagement in clinical research in which the lymphoma service is particularly active.
This role offers opportunities to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, educational supervision, and research and leadership roles within the specialty. There is no formal ‘on call’ commitment at present but there are opportunities to join the ST on-call rota during the tenure of the post.
Broadly, two types of applicants will be considered. Firstly, individuals who have already attained a CCT in haematology who wish to further broaden and strengthen their skills and knowledge prior to pursuing a Consultant post specialising in lymphoid malignancies. Secondly, individuals within their final 2 years of the Haematology specialist training programme (with FRCPath part I or II), provided out of programme training is approved.

Candidates will be required to have full GMC registration at the time of appointment.

The CAR-T Fellow will be a senior non-Consultant member of the lymphoma team at City Campus, NUH, and will benefit from extensive and focused training in CART in the context of lymphoid malignancies. The successful candidate will be expected to liaise with the medical and non-medical teams affiliated with the delivery of CAR-T including ITU, neurology, palliative care, apheresis, stem cell laboratory, pharmacy and others. A key focus of the post will be to contribute to the delivery and supervision of CAR-T in an ambulatory setting. There is no formal ‘on call’ commitment at present but there will be opportunities to join the ST on-call rota during the tenure of the post.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:

Contribution to the tertiary referral service for patients with lymphoid malignancy including, but not limited to, CAR-T providing regular patient reviews with close liaison with Consultant and CNS staff.
Attendances at both the lymphoma/CAR-T MDT and the national CAR-T panel.
Dedicated outpatient clinic responsibilities.
Delegated responsibilities for patients participating in lymphoma/CAR-T clinical trials.
Teaching of junior doctors and medical students.
Participate in departmental educational meetings, research and audit.
