POSITION SUMMARY

Performs a variety of routine radiographic procedures of a technical level consistent with optimal image quality. Responsible for patient safety and proper operations and maintenance of radiographic equipment’s

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates degree or radiologic graduate of an accredited radiologic health science program.
  • One year post graduation experience
  • Basic Life Support certified.

OTHER SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Computer literacy, with Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Performs advanced CT-Scan examinations according to the UHS CT exams guidelines desirable if applicable.
  • Performs routine MRI examinations desirable if applicable.

Responsibilities:

SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES

  • Actively participates in upholding and promoting the vision and culture of University Hospital – Sharjah (UHS)
  • Complies with all UHS policies and procedures and fire regulations
  • Participates in all aspects of the International Accreditation program to assist UHS attain and maintain international accreditation standards
  • Participates in commissioning assigned areas and associated Clinical areas
  • Maintains a record of scheduled patients and accommodates the emergency cases.
  • Ensures proper entries and records on Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System.
  • Prepares patient for X-rays by accurately assessing patient’s needs and providing required instructions to the patient.
  • Positions the patient properly for radiographic views and ensures appropriate exposure factors.
  • Performs adequate patient shielding and uses proper beam restricting devices.
  • Uses radiation protection devices and safety measures to ensure safety and security of staff and patients.
  • Prepares oral or intra venous contrast media to the patients under radiologist supervision.
  • Prepares patient for fluoroscopic procedures by accurately assessing patient’s needs and providing patient education.
  • Demonstrates effective skills in assisting the radiologist in performing fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Operates radiographic equipment for image production and subsequently transfers images to PACS
  • Effectively uses C-ARM and portable X-ray units whenever requested.
  • Operates computed tomography scanner effectively for routine CT scan examinations like, Brain, Cervical spine, abdomen.
  • Performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
  • Practices safety measures in X-ray and fluoroscopy rooms.
  • Assures that rooms are equipped with necessary supplies and linens.
  • Ensures proper transfer of in patients to their wards in particular the critically ill patients.
  • Performs the on call procedures in time and efficiently communicates with on call staff.
  • Participates in CME and research projects.
  • Reports timely to the Manager about any untoward incident either technical or administrative.
  • Reports faulty or malfunctioning equipment and accessories to the Manager.
  • Applies the professional code of ethics in all aspects of practice and team work including duty rota and leave policy.
  • Will retain all necessary registration/license requirements
  • Self-development participate in internal orientation, mandatory, ongoing education programs Attend external conferences, workshops, seminars and courses that will enhance and maintain a current knowledge base
  • Works any shift as per the duty roster of the Medical Diagnostic Imaging Department when designated

  • To assist the receptionists in the scheduling of patients depending on the urgency of the cases. and manage the daily workflow of the department
