POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Medical Cannabis Fertigation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the fertilization and irrigation systems (fertigation) within a medical cannabis cultivation facility. This role ensures optimal plant growth and health by managing the application of nutrients and water. The supervisor will coordinate with the cultivation team to implement and maintain fertigation schedules and address any issues that arise.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or related fields preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in fertigation or irrigation management, preferably in a cannabis cultivation setting.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of plant nutrition, irrigation systems, and horticultural practices.
- Technology: Experience with automated fertigation systems and technology.
- Regulations: Understanding of cannabis cultivation regulations and compliance requirements.
- Fertigation Management: Proven track record in managing fertigation systems in a commercial cultivation environment.
- Team Supervision: Experience in supervising and training staff.
- Cannabis Biology: Familiarity with cannabis plant biology and growth cycles.
- Data Analysis: Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions to optimize plant health and yield.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Lifting: Ability to lift up to (23 kg).
- Mobility: Standing, walking, and bending for extended periods.
- Environmental Conditions: Working in various environmental conditions, including hot, humid, and wet environments.
- Manual Dexterity: Manual dexterity for operating fertigation equipment and handling plants.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule Development: Develop and implement fertigation schedules based on the specific needs of various cannabis strains.
- Nutrient Monitoring: Monitor and adjust nutrient levels, pH, and EC to ensure optimal plant growth.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and calibrate fertigation equipment, including pumps, tanks, irrigation lines, and HOCL generators.
- Regular Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve any issues related to plant health or fertigation systems.
- Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of fertigation activities, nutrient usage, and plant responses.
- Pest Management: Collaborate with the cultivation team to ensure effective implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.
- Training and Supervision: Train and supervise fertigation technicians and related personnel.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and best practices in cannabis cultivation.
- Research and Development: Participate in R&D initiatives to improve fertigation practices and outcomes.
