Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced midwife to join our Maternity Services at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust Hospital. You will be responsible for running a safe, efficient and quality driven service. You will need excellent leadership and decision making skills and the ability to work well with a multidisciplinary team.
For the post you will need to have superb clinical midwifery skills.. You will be expected to work at least one clinical day a month in other clinical areas to maintain your wider experience.
This is a senior Midwifery role and there is an expectation that the post holder will fully participate in the clinical and professional leadership within the organisation. It requires an enthusiastic and motivated midwife with excellent leadership and communication skills who can demonstrate focus and commitment to creating positive experiences for patients.
Excellent management and leadership qualities are central in maintaining a supportive and forward thinking maternity service that places women, birthing persons and their family’s needs central to the service, as well as creating a dynamic and innovative environment for staff.
You will have the necessary skills and confidence to practice autonomously and be committed to ensuring that women, birthing persons, babies and their families receive the care and support required to promote optimum outcomes and positive experiences.
Fetal Medicine is the branch of medicine that provides care for the fetus (or fetuses) and parents with specific complications in their pregnancy. This includes the assessment of fetal growth, well-being and the diagnosis and management of fetal disorders (including fetal abnormalities) and counselling and support for parents. Specialised services for parents that covers rare or complex conditions and/or complex treatments as well as more common conditions where the severity or uncertainty of a particular case and/or co-morbidities necessitates treatment in a specialist centre.

It is expected that you will be educated to degree level, have a keen interest in patient safety, knowledge of on-going clinical development, an awareness of research based evidence/guidelines, be on the live mentor register and have competent IT skills.
Education in Mentorship teaching and assessing is essential, as is evidence of continued professional education and development.
Midwives are supported in their practice and professional development by a high profile and supportive approach to Midwifery Supervision. You will be working alongside specialists within fetal medicine whilst developing your skills and knowledge within this specialism.
