KNOWLEDGE

  • Sound practical knowledge and experience of cabling installations.
  • Experience with blown fibre cabling preferable.
  • Experienced in the use of hand tools.
  • Experienced with working off ladders.
  • Sound Knowledge of Health and Safety.
  • Perform installation of fibre optic equipment, patching and panels.
  • Very good English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks & work to tight deadlines
  • Experience within the utilities sector.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities
Install fibre optic cables underground by pulling or blowing cables through subduct or existing ducted sections.
Drill and screw fix underground fibre equipment to chamber walls.
Complete internal cabling and cable clipping as required.
Installation of trunking/conduit as required to provide containment for cables.
Installation of steel trunking as required externally to protect cables.
Working at height on ladders as required to complete cabling duties.
Install customer communications racks and associated telecommunications equipment.
Install and setup customer modem and contact the network operations centre to ensure connectivity is online.
Complete safe internal to external drilling to allow cable entry to buildings.
Work alongside splicing teams daily to connect customers to the fibre network.
Liaise with manager’s daily to notify progress of works.
Ability to maintain records of daily work logs, data recordings, and network design maps.
Assure all works are performed within customer quality requirements.
Ability to follow design drawings and schematics.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Due to continued growth of our Telecoms Department, TLI Group are recruiting for Fibre Optic Technicians for our expanding Telecoms Department. Reporting to the Fibre Construction Supervisor, the Fibre Optic Technicians will work as part of a team on the SIRO Project ensuring the timely delivery of a major telecommunications projects.
Being a fibre optic technician in the telecoms industry is a challenging but hugely rewarding career choice. TLI Group have nationwide awards building Fibre Networks throughout Ireland.
The role of the fibre cabling technician will be based across Ireland working on a nationwide delivery programme.
