Description:

FIBRE TECHNICIAN / VAULT INSTALLER

GCS Group has immediate openings for experienced fibre technicians to join our growing telecom construction company.
Candidates must have experience with fibre drilling / installation projects and be qualified to drive the support vehicles used to transport this equipment to and from various project sites.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have 1+ years experience working on fibre / telecom installation projects;
  • Read and interpret plans, locates or diagrams and perform required work;
  • Meticulous and high attention to detail;
  • Safety conscious;
  • Cable pulling an asset;
  • Valid Class 5 license;
  • Clean driver’s abstract (3 year);
  • Must be able to work in varied and cold weather conditions;
  • Physically fit with no physical limitations;
  • Capable of lifting 50lbs;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Ability to think and react to changing conditions quickly;
  • Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to work in a fast- paced environment with tight deadlines and repetitive tasks.

Safety Tickets

  • CSTS 2020 (required)
  • Ground Disturbance – Supervisor Level 2 (required)
  • Standard First Aid is an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret plans, locates or diagrams and perform required work;
  • Underground utility installations for telecommunications;
  • Installation of fibre;
  • Installation of vaults/pedestals
  • Shoveling and digging
  • Backfilling
  • Participate in site safety including pre-job orientations, toolbox meetings, ensure all safety paperwork is accurate and complete;
  • Submit daily logs to the Project Coordinator at the end of each shift;
  • Responsible for ensuring permits are valid and completing tickets;
  • Other related fibre installation tasks as needed.
