Group/Division
The Customer Engagement (CE) team is our field based, customer facing organization consisting of Technical Engagement Managers and Application Engineers. The team partners closely with our customers to provide a comprehensive portfolio of products, software, and expertise, to help customers manage yield throughout their fabrication process—from research and development to final volume production. Responsibilities of this group include maintaining strategic client relationships, partnering with our sales team in identifying and closing sales opportunities, ensuring our products meet performance capabilities & expectations, providing critical solutions for improved yield performance, and collecting requirements for future products by understanding customer processes and technology trends. Partnering with our sales organization and factory divisions, this diverse and dynamic team helps ensure alignment between customer needs and product offerings to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. KLA’s Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers.
The Surfscan group includes a team of engineers, technology development, apps engineers and product marketing focused on technology that enables wafer, IC and equipment manufacturers to develop, qualify and monitor their process tools. Defects and process non-uniformities detected on Surfscan equipment allow for early identification of yield excursions. The flagship Surfscan products include the SPx platforms for wafer surface quality and wafer defect inspection tools and systems for inspection of polished wafers, epi wafers and engineered substrates during the wafer fabrication process.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing technical applications support for the development and implementation of KLA products in customer fabrication facilities
  • Makes presentations on all aspects of products
  • Assists sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer technical requirements and preparing detailed product specifications
  • Implements detailed customer installation plans
  • Provides support in training customers and sharing technical information on specific applications
  • Solves complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in depth evaluation, design of experiments, and communication between customers and specialists
  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results

Qualifications

  • MS / Ph.D. preferred in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Optics, Material Science or a related field.
  • Has experience in the semiconductor fabrication industry, or equivalent experience
  • Is well organized and professional with strong project management skills
  • Shows persistence and dedication to understanding and solving critical customer problems
  • Has strong communication skills, with experience presenting technical content to a broad audience
  • Strong analytical problem solving skills

Position also requires completion of a university-level course / research-project / internship / thesis, or 6+ months of experience in most of the following:

  • Experience in cleanroom environments
  • Semiconductor device application and characterization
  • Optics (Microscopy, Lasers, SEM, etc.)
  • Computer operating systems, networking
  • Basic programming skills (Matlab, Labview, Python, or equivalent)
  • Data analysis tools (Excel, JMP, minitab, Igor, Origin or equivalent)
  • Deep learning
