J.D. Irving, Limited, Woodlands Division is currently seeking candidates for Field Forester, based in St George, New Brunswick.
Reporting to the Planning Forester, the Field Forester is responsible for planning the most efficient and productive harvesting operations while following management’s plans and adhering strictly to the company’s environmental rules and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
- Post-Secondary education in forestry or a related field is considered an asset
- Willingness to work outdoors in all climate conditions
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record
- Strong organizational, problem solving, communication skills, and attention to detail
- Experience in Microsoft Office, GPS, and GIS devices would be an asset

Responsibilities:
- Conduct watercourse and environmental assessments
- Create detailed description of blocks
- GPS data collection
- Correction and modification of data collected in the field utilizing GIS software
- Conduct pre-harvest assessments
- Determine the season, system, and prescription of harvest blocks and regeneration strategy
- Plan the most efficient and productive harvesting operations while following management’s plans and adhering strictly to the company’s environmental rules and policies
