Job Description Summary
We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our life sciences team based in Tauranga. You will work with our leading instruments in Diagnostics and support our customers across NZ within diagnostics pathology labs.
Responsibilities:
- Effect instrument installations, commissioning and customer training on instrument maintenance.
- Plan regular customer visits to deliver preventative maintenance on BD instruments; these include Laboratory Automation and Diagnostic family of instruments.
- Perform remedial maintenance on a nominated range of equipment in a professional and customer-oriented manner.
- Maintain accurate service records through diligent and timely use of service reports and the customer database.
- Communicate with Regional Territory Managers, Technical Specialists and Regional Sales Managers on potential sales opportunities.
- Effect tight control of the service parts movements and usage allocated to your responsibility.
- Assess and report on product performance, faults etc. and make recommendations for improvement.
- Maintain a high level of product knowledge for all instruments. Participate and keep current with training on new instrument models.
- Provide customers with quotations for instrument repairs.
- Discuss service requirements with customers and look for opportunities to sell service contracts.
- Adhere to the requirements of the Quality Management System as maintained by BD Australia.
- Participate in on-call roster.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree qualifications in electronics, engineering or similar discipline mandatory
- Experience in Diagnostic instrumentation service required.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills required and able to accommodate the requirement of frequent domestic and international travel.
- Component knowledge level of computer hardware, computer hardware and software familiarity and data manipulation ability required.
- IT infrastructure, computer networking ability with proven experience mandatory
- Understanding of diagnostic laboratory and research institute workflows a definite bonus
- A minimum of five years’ experience in Diagnostic instrumentation service required. (Experience in laboratory automation a definite advantage)
- Ability to perform Applications & Operating Systems configurations, updates and upgrades.
