As a Field Service Technician, you are responsible for safely installing, commissioning, servicing, and / or operating sonar systems at local test facilities and offsite on customer vessels. You will work within a diverse multi-disciplinary program team and interface directly with various subcontractors and customer representatives. When not in the field you may support the planning of field operation logistics, maintain equipment in our factory, and perform other related activities. Frequent international travel will be required, some of which will be at short notice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma in a relevant Technology program.
- > 3 years of field experience servicing, operating, and / or commissioning electro-mechanical equipment
- Able and willing to travel on short notice and travel for weeks at a time any time of the year.
- Self-motivated with a drive to get things done
- Able to work in a dynamic environment and develop procedures where gaps exist.
- Proactive communicator; both internal and client-focused
- Solid organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Experience working overseas and in foreign cultures is considered an asset
- Marine experience is considered an asset
Responsibilities:
- Safely install and maintain sonar systems on customer vessels in local and international ports.
- Gain expertise in the features, operation, and maintenance of GeoSpectrum sonar systems.
- Train customer installation and operations teams, often across language or culture barriers.
- Support commissioning, operation, and testing or demonstration of sonar equipment at sea.
- Test and troubleshoot electromechanical systems in the field.
- Organize logistics for local and international field activities.
- Develop and maintain documentation, processes, and procedures for field service activities and field-based configuration control.
- Develop and maintain tools and equipment to support field service activities.
- When not in the field, provide remote technical customer support
