As the Field Service Technician, you will provide excellent face-to-face customer service to our customers whilst promoting our market leading products and services. You will be joining a team that really is essential in maintaining and enhancing both pre- and post-sale customer relationships, being the link between our production facility and our long-standing customers. Our Field Service Team is at the heart of what we do.
VPG Onboard Weighing specialises in high quality, high accuracy weighing systems for all commercial vehicle types. From overload protection and payload optimisation to trade approved pay-by-weight systems, our vehicle-mounted solutions make load management more convenient, efficient and cost-effective at every stage of the journey.
This great opportunity is a field role, ideal for someone based in the Peterborough, Leicester or Northampton region of the UK, as this role will support customers located within this area of the UK.
ABOUT US:
VPG has a long history of innovation, specifically in precision foil resistors and foil strain gauges. This served as a foundation to expand into strain gauge instrumentation, load cells, transducers, weighing modules and complete systems for process control and on-board vehicle weighing.

Responsibilities:
Our Field Service Technician team are a hugely important and integral part of the UK Weigh Solutions Business Division. All training will be provided and initially all new starters are partnered with an experienced Field Service Technician.
Your daily duties and responsibilities will comprise of the following:
- Travel in your work vehicle from your home to customer locations to fit and install our onboard weigh products onto customer vehicles.
- Maximise revenue by identifying potential business and professional service opportunities, whilst carrying out day-to-day duties.
- Management and control of account stock, to improve first time fix levels to customers, and to minimise stock losses.
- Calibrate PM weighing systems and products when on site with our customers.
- Diagnose maintain and repair weighing systems.
- Display great customer service skills.
- Provide customer advice and training on the use of PM weighing equipment.
- Provide technical support by telephone, e-mail or face to face with customers.
- When required you will attend and participate in our annual 2-day engineers’ meetings at our Bradford site (all expenses paid).
- Eventually you will be able to recommend solutions to customer problems and assist them with product application advice.
- You will contribute to basic departmental reports and other documents in support of our continuous improvement mindset.
