In this exciting role, you will be setting up, maintaining, and characterizing laboratory experiments to study filamentous fungi with and without plant hosts. Through field work, you will extend laboratory findings partnering closely with the principal investigators to track, coordinate, and manage program activities, prepare and publish scientific findings, prepare proposals, reports, provide updates to communicate with stakeholders, and obtain/maintain funding.
This position has an anticipated start date of October 1, 2024.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Ph.D. in Microbial Biology or a related field.
  • Experience establishing, maintaining, and characterizing filamentous fungal mesocosm systems.
  • Experience carrying out various functional genomic techniques.
  • Experience serving as Postdoctoral Fellow.
  • Experience training and directing the work of early career, technical support staff, and/or students.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out cutting-edge research in studying signaling in filamentous fungi.
  • Write manuscripts, prepare, and present status reports on scientific findings and project progress.
  • Present research at international conferences and publish in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
  • Write and contribute to grant proposals that lead to continued funding.
  • Lead, mentor, and train students, postdoctoral researchers, and other group members as needed.
  • Provide lab management, tracking, and logistics for shared resources and collaborative projects.
  • Collaborate with other Berkeley Lab divisions, national laboratories, and academic institutions.
  • Maintain an accurate and detailed laboratory notebook of all work performed to ensure that others could duplicate results.
