Description:

Reporting to the Finance & Accounting Manager, you will primarily assist in general accounting functions within the team. There will also be deliberate focus on working with other senior members of the wider Finance team to complete specific tasks in relation to completing specified practical experience requirements as part of the CAANZ program.
You will possess a drive to ensure the ongoing success of the Avis and Budget brands and will show a high degree of initiative and attention to detail.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Preparation of bank and other general ledger reconciliations to a high degree of quality and completed in a timely manner consistently. All reconciling items are identified and either resolved or escalated timely to ensure the balance sheet is clean and well managed at all times.
  • Ownership of the cash management and treasury functions including bank coding, cash flow analysis and monitoring, ensuring management are made aware of the cash positions and are able to make decisions on cash requirements and optimal cash mix which will be executed by you.
  • The preparation and posting of manual journals and the review and maintenance of all systems that post automated journals. Identifying errors in the automated journal postings (if any) and taking the relevant steps to correct these. Ensure all manual journals are fully supported with clear supporting evidence.
  • Operation and understanding of multi-facets within the ERP system and associated interfaces ensuring system reliability at all times. Being able to also draw relevant reporting and information from the ERP system and assist other team members within and outside of finance in doing so.
  • Assisting with the external and internal audits, and all other statutory obligations, ensuring these are completed timely and successfully, including assisting in the preparation of financial statements and tax reporting requirements.
  • Working within the fleet team to pay for the purchase of fleet as well as the addition of fleet into the fleet database. Deletion of sold fleet out of the fleet database and assisting in the collection and identification of monies received for fleet sales. Forecasting the cash flow requirements for fleet is required.
  • Perform costing adjustments for fleet vehicles and maintaining the overall integrity of the fleet database including ensuring the right make/model/use codes are available for categorising fleet and to identify errors if and when they occur though the performing of reconciliations.
  • Payment of fleet ancillaries such as VTNZ and other registration and on-road requirements. Building strong relationships with both the Finance and Fleet teams as this role plays a pivotal role in both areas, and in doing so, driving efficiencies and insights where possible.
  • Be a key contact for cash and banking including the loading of manual payments that are both scheduled and ad-hoc. Strong attention to detail in making foreign currency payments and assisting in the reconciliations, preparation, and review of travel and expenditure cards.
  • Assisting in the overall financial control function including internal controls, payables, payroll, receivables, credit, financial planning and analysis, fleet, franchisees, group reporting, and external reporting as and when required, but also for the completion of the CAANZ course.
  • Other duties as required by the Accounting Manager and Fleet/Franchisee Team Leader or other members of the management team.
