Through support from donors and innovative partnerships with Indigenous groups, governments and landholders, AWC owns, manages or works in partnership across 7.6 million hectares of large-scale wildlife sanctuaries throughout Australia with a focus on practical land management and informed world-class science.

AWC’s mission - to deliver effective conservation for all native animal species and their habitats - is achieved by:

  • Operations - delivering effective large-scale land management including fire management, feral animal control, weed control and infrastructure management.
  • Science - delivering the largest national biological survey program with a focus on measuring the population of indicator species and the extent of threatening processes as well as conducting research on key issues such as feral cat control.
  • Fundraising - mobilising finance (primarily, tax deductible donations) from the public and philanthropists including through effective communication of field updates from around the AWC estate.

About the role
This entry level position within the National Finance team will suit someone seeking career development, a return to the workforce or a career change opportunity.
Working out of the AWC Head Office in Subiaco and reporting to the Finance Manager, key responsibilities for the position will include:
Administering timely and accurate financial reporting
Coordinating reconciliation of corporate credit card usage
Enabling efficient autonomy by credit card holders for accurate and timely data input into the accounting system including providing one on one training and support as required
Preparing purchase orders in accordance with AWC Procurement Policy and associated Finance procedures
Supporting the Accounts Payable team including processing re-imbursements
Ensuring Finance administration tasks comply with all AWC Policies and Procedures
Supporting the Finance Manager and Finance team with delegated tasks as required.

THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL HAVE:

  • A strong interest and passion for the conservation of Australian wildlife
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong attention to detail and highly accurate output approach
  • Efficient data entry capability to ensure timely work delivery
  • Proficient skills Microsoft including Outlook, Word and Excel
  • An appetite to learn and develop skills including in the use of in-house IT systems
  • Full and unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia.
    This position will be offered on a temporary contract basis until June 2025 with a view to permanency.
