Description:

ABOUT US

UCL Earth Sciences is one of the oldest centres for earth and planetary sciences in the UK, situated in Bloomsbury in the heart of London and within minutes of the British Museum, the British Library and the Royal Institution. The Department is housed in the refurbished Kathleen Lonsdale Building (inaugurated by Sir David Attenborough in April 2018). The completion of this £28M project means that we now offer staff and students opportunities to work in modern research labs and teaching facilities.
The Department runs undergraduate degree programmes (BSc/MSci) in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geophysics, and Environmental Geosciences, as well as postgraduate taught Masters programmes (MSc) in Geophysical Hazards and Geoscience, with an intake of ~100 undergraduate and ~30 MSc students per year.

Responsibilities:

The main purpose of the job will be:

  • To be responsible for administering all financial transactions within the Department. The role holder must ensure these are processed promptly, accurately and in accordance with UCL’s Financial Regulations.
  • Assist in the administering of data for research grant funding proposals, providing figures and statistics as required.
  • Assist in financial decision making through provision of reports and statistics as required
  • Act as a first point of contact for general financial enquiries.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Finance Administrator, Finance Manager and the Departmental Manager to deliver the financial operations for the department. Duties will include but are not limited to financial processing and procurement, research grant and funding administration and financial reporting and planning.
